| Update: Post-Thanksgiving Holiday Fatality Statistics Increase |

After learning about a Thanksgiving Day fatal crash on Josephine County, the number of fatalities that happened during the extended Thanksgiving holiday period on Oregon highways increased by one fatality.
During the official reporting period (6:00 p.m., Weds., November 22nd, through 11:59 p.m., Sunday, November 26th) identified by ODOT's Fatality Analysis Reporting System (FARS), seven deaths occurred in 6 separate fatal crashes. Two other fatalities happened before the 6:00 p.m. starting time on Wednesday.
According to the Josephine County Sheriff's Office, the latest fatality happened on November 23, 2006 at 5:19 p.m. when a 50-year old man operating a golf cart without lights was struck head-on by a pickup in the 300 block of Espey Road near the victim's residence. The victim was transported to a local hospital where he reportedly died from his injuries.
