The Oregon State Athletic Commission was established by the Oregon Legislature in 1987. The purpose of the Commission is to serve as a state-wide regulatory agency with the responsibility for regulating boxing, entertainment wrestling, and mixed martial arts events. The OSAC was originally named the Oregon Boxing and Wrestling Commission. During the 2007 session of the Oregon Legislature, the statutes governing the Commission were updated to include the regulation of mixed martial arts, as well as make other substantive changes.
The Commission is comprised of a five member, volunteer board appointed by the Oregon State Police Superintendent. The Commission is administrated by an Executive Director.
